Join us in December for the return of our popular "Happy Holidays" DIY Floral Design Class! If you love flowers, and hands-on fun, this workshop is for you. During this class, our professional floral designer will guide you step-by-step as you create a stunning holiday arrangement. Two classes will be offered in December, a perfect chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping and have a fun afternoon out with flowers!

Keep Your Furry Friends Safe and Happy This 4th of July!

The 4th of July is a time for celebration, filled with barbecues, fireworks, and festive gatherings. While it’s a fun and exciting day for us, it can be a stressful and even dangerous time for our furry friends. At Gilespie Florists, we care about all members of your family, including your beloved pets. Here are some tips and tricks to ensure your pets have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day!

🐾 4th of July Pet Safety Tips

1. Keep Pets Indoors: Fireworks can be terrifying for animals. The loud noises and bright flashes can cause anxiety and fear. Keep your pets indoors in a safe, quiet room where they feel comfortable. Close windows and curtains to muffle the sound of fireworks and play some calming music to help soothe them.

2. Update Identification: Make sure your pet’s ID tags and microchip information are up-to-date. In case your pet gets scared and runs off, proper identification will help reunite you more quickly.

3. Avoid Human Food: Barbecues are a staple of 4th of July celebrations, but many human foods can be harmful to pets. Keep alcoholic beverages, chocolate, grapes, onions, and any food with bones out of their reach. Stick to pet-safe treats to include them in the festivities.

4. Create a Safe Space: Set up a comfortable area for your pet with their favorite bed, toys, and blankets. This can be their refuge if they feel stressed or scared. You might also consider using a crate if that’s their safe space.

5. Exercise Beforehand: Take your dog for a long walk or engage in a good play session before the festivities begin. A tired pet is a relaxed pet, and they’ll be more likely to rest during the evening’s activities.

We have had an amazing time bringing back our DIY Floral Design classes this year, starting with Halloween, adding Thanksgiving and now, Pat Gillespie is ready lead this popular class for the holidays. Mr. Gillespie has decades of experience in floral design and will be guiding you on this fun adventure with fresh flowers and your choice of container. Learning is part of the journey and Pat, as your guide, instructor and Dad-Joke extraordinaire will have you designing in no time with tips he's had ages to perfect. By the end of the two hours you will be bringing home a beautiful (arranged by you) creation and telling your friends and family about it so they can sign up for the next one! Holiday and Winter Bouquet Favorites!

Raw_badgetag-01-1 The most wonderful time of the year means we have an abundance of winter and holiday themed bouquets for sending "Season's Greetings!" Lights shine brighter, our hearts are lighter and everything has a nice joyful sheen to it (except for fallen snow after a day of traffic...but let's not dwell on it right now!). Here to get you in the mood for the holidays I am sharing the bouquets and centerpieces fit for any table, office and/or living space.
Tis the season!

Winter Cardinal (18X02)
We are starting out the gate with something brand new from our designers. Maybe it's a favorite because I went to Ball State (Go CARDS!), maybe the colors OR MAYBE this says Indiana winter to me. There is so much to love about Winter Cardinal! Light blue carnations, delphinium, pine cones, fresh fragrant pine and a little cardinal nestled in a beautiful winter theme container. This arrangement brings back fond winter memories complete with bright red cardinals flitting to and fro.

Tinsel Twist (16X05)
Now let's go for something a little more energetic and fun! Do you love candy cane colors? Baskets? Carnations and daisie in holiday colors in a basket? Then Tinsel Twist is for you! Lively red and white color flowers with refreshing greens topped with a boisterous ribbon all wrapped up in a basket. This bouquet says "Joy to the world and have the happiest of holidays!". I get psyched up just looking at it.

Plum Enchantment (16X01)
Now that we are excited, let's take it down a notch with the peaceful warm glow of a golden glass hurricane surrounded by florals in colors of a sugar plum dreamland. Fragrant and fresh winter pine, pinecones, moon series carnations in shades of purple, purple statice, blue millimeter balls, a votive candle and a touch of silver glitter!

Williamsburg Lantern (18X05)
A new pick which is becoming more popular are lanterns! They are everywhere but leave it to the fantastic designers at Gillespie Florists to put the perfect artfully arranged spin on this new classic. Adorned with glittering red leaves, apple and pinecone, natural pinecone, red and black plaid ribbon, ornament and LED light candle which will warm up any living space! I am sold on this keepsake and can't wait to see the warm candlelight softly illuminating my living room.

What kind of list would this be without one of our most traditional winter decor staples? Nothing says "Happy Holidays" like poinsettias!
