Our doors stayed open throughout construction, but now that smooth and easy access to our parking lot has returned, we’re ready to celebrate—and kick off the holiday season at the same time.

At our DIY Holiday Flower Design Station, guests can learn a few basic floral-design techniques while creating a mini holiday bouquet or Christmas Sunshine Bouquet. This free make-and-take activity is our way of thanking you for sticking with us through the construction!

Our DIY Holiday Plant Design Station will offer plant-care tips and demonstrations featuring foliage plants and succulents in seasonal containers. See how river rock, moss, pinecones, berries and other accents can transform a simple plant into a festive holiday gift. Completed plant designs will be available for purchase. This station will be hosted by Lacey from Epic Seeds.

A team from Cain's Creative Chaos will also be joining us for the celebration. Melissa will be in California for an art show that day, so her team will be here to celebrate with us.

Minnie Pearl and Izzy Mae will be reporting for duty as our official greeting committee!

Visit our Paws and Photos Station to spend a little time with our English Bulldog mascots and snap a festive picture with holiday props. We have a feeling Izzy Mae will be more interested in hugs than overseeing the event—but Minnie will be there to show her the ropes!

Our younger visitors can stop by the Festive Balloon and Tattoo Corner for holiday-colored balloons and temporary floral or Christmas-themed tattoos.

Signs of Progress: There’s a Giant Hole! 🚜

There’s now a giant hole in the middle of the intersection—and in this case, that’s a welcome sight! It means the roundabout construction at 10th Street and Raceway Road is moving right along.

We’re thankful for the good weather, which has allowed the construction crew to make lots of progress. ☀️ The roundabout is currently estimated to be completed by mid-October.

Gillespie Florists remains fully open, fully stocked and ready to welcome you throughout construction. You’ll just need to take a specific route to reach us:

• 🚗 Access our parking lot from northbound Raceway Road. You’ll need to approach us from Rockville Road and travel north on Raceway Road.
• 🚧 Drive past the barricades and follow the signs pointing you toward our shop.
• ⛔ Our parking lot cannot currently be accessed from 10th Street.
• ⏰ We are open Monday–Saturday from 8 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
• 🌸 We deliver throughout Indianapolis and the surrounding suburbs if you’d rather let us navigate the construction for you.

Are we still open during construction?

Yes! Gillespie Florists is fully open and operating as usual.
Our designers are in the shop creating fresh arrangements every day, and our delivery drivers are out on the road keeping celebrations, sympathies, and everyday moments on schedule.

The signs say “Road Closed.” Can I still get to you?

Yes, you can.

Those “Road Closed” signs are intended for thru-traffic—drivers trying to pass through the area to reach another destination. If you are coming to visit us, you are considered local traffic, which means you are allowed to drive past the barricades to reach our shop and parking lot.

If it feels uncertain the first time, you’re not alone—but you are in the right place.

Which entrance should I use today?

Access may shift depending on active construction zones and crew activity.

As of March 24, 2026:

• OPEN: 10th Street Entrance (best accessed by heading west from Country Club Road)
• CLOSED: Raceway Road Entrance

Please note: this can change quickly. If one route is blocked, the other is typically your best alternative.

Can I still get delivery instead of coming in?

Gillespie Florists is Open!

You’ve probably seen the signs, the orange barrels, and the heavy machinery. The rumors are true: the intersection of 10th Street and Raceway Road is officially closed for the construction of a new roundabout! Work began on Monday, March 23, 2026.

While a new roundabout will make navigating our corner smoother in the future, we know that right now, "Road Closed" signs are the last thing you want to see when you're looking for flowers.

We are writing this post with one very clear and very important message for you:

WE ARE FULLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

That’s right! Barricades and all, Gillespie Florists is ready to fill your orders, help you browse, and make sure you have the perfect fresh flowers for any occasion.

Navigating to Us

Because we are located directly at the corner, our property can be accessed even when the main intersection is closed. As a customer, you are officially considered "Local Traffic," which means you are permitted to drive through the initial barricades (located at 10th & Country Club or Raceway & Rockville) to reach our parking lot.

We have two main entrances that we can swap between as construction moves:

• From the East (10th Street): Travel West on 10th Street from Country Club Road to reach our Northeast entrance.
• From the South (Raceway Road): Travel North on Raceway Road from Rockville Road to reach our Southwest entrance.
  
  

IMPORTANT ACCESS UPDATE: As of today, Monday, March 23, 2026, our 10th Street entrance is OPEN. Construction crews have blocked the Raceway Road entrance at this time.

Please keep in mind that the crews need to work in different spots, and they have informed us that they will shift our accessible entrance between 10th and Raceway as needed throughout the project. The entrance that is open today may be closed tomorrow.

Heads up, flower fans! Our intersection is getting a fantastic upgrade with a new roundabout installation scheduled to begin on or after August 1st and expected to be completed by November 15th. While this means some changes to your usual route, we want to assure you that Gillespie Florists will be OPEN FOR BUSINESS throughout the entire project!

We understand construction can be a bit tricky, so here's what you need to know:

• We're Open & Accessible: Both of our parking lot entrances will remain accessible. There will be temporary, periodic closures to individual entrances, but never simultaneously, so you'll always have a way in!

• Navigating the Closures:

  • No Access From the West or North: If you're coming from the west (via 10th Street traveling east from Ronald Reagan Pkwy) or from the north (via Raceway Road traveling south from 21st Street), the intersection will be closed.

  • Accessing Our Southwest Entrance: Please use northbound Raceway Road (traveling north from Rockville Road).

  • Accessing Our Northeast Entrance: Please use westbound 10th Street (traveling west from Country Club Road).

• "Road Closed" Barricades: You'll see "Road Closed 1 Mile Ahead" barricades at the intersections of Country Club Road and 10th Street, and Raceway Road and Rockville Road. Please note: Traffic is permitted past these barricades to gain access to Gillespie Florists (they will say "open to local traffic").

• During Construction: If one of our entrances is temporarily blocked, all traffic will be directed to utilize the alternate entrance.
